The AirWay Corporation in Toledo, Ohio, are noted for their innovation in the vacuum industry: While Airway originally manufactured vacuum cleaners, they also invented and patented the first disposable paper dust bag for vacuums. Additionally, Airway was first to use a seal on the bag and first to use a HEPA filter on a vacuum cleaner. Airway’s further contributions include vacuums that dispersed room deodorant while in use that purported to guard against microscopic allergens, as well as the development of a “cage” within the vacuum in which the bag would reside. This served to help equalize pressure, maximizing capacity of the bag and providing uninterrupted airflow.
